A New Month...A Fresh Start

My mom's 80th birthday isn't until March 24th, but I really want to get her quilt finished long before then (procrastination gets me too stressed!) So for this month's Lovely Year of Finishes I decided that this would be my project of choice. I'm sure (I KNOW) I'll be working on other projects, but this is certainly my most important one.

I have nine of the 12 blocks finished, so that means 3 more blocks to piece. Then I have to add sashing and cornerstones and two borders. The final border is going to be quite wide (10 inches?) and will be scalloped, which is something I've never done before, so wish me luck! And then of course, the whole thing will need to be quilted and bound, which with those scallops, may be a bit of a challenge. So, time to get busy...and get more done...today!

  1. Good luck on the scalloping! My Grandma has quilts she has done this to, but I don't think I could ever work up enough courage to try it. I will be interested in seeing how yours turns out.

  5. Good luck for your goal. Lyn at http://whatahootquilts.blogspot.com has a great quilt she has not long finished which she did a scalloped border on... she did a bit of a tutorial with some very useful photos which I highly recommend. But she did say it took a long time!

  7. Your blocks are lovely. I hope you'll post the other three, and then the finished quilt. I've never done scallops. I hope it goes smoothly for you. Will you quilt by hand or machine?
