you may wonder just what you're seeing! This room, one we called "the workshop" was photographed during the summer of 2012. I looked at this room and envisioned it as my future quilt studio, much to my husband's chagrin! But six months later, it had evolved into this...
my current Quilt Studio! Quite a difference, huh?! (I'll be sharing more about the transition in a future post.) So, along those lines, I intend to have a focus in this blog on quilting goals--what our goals are, (and if we don't have any, how to set some), and how to go about achieving them, whether large or small.
I have a few particular goals for myself this year that I hope to be able to share with you:
- RULERS--learning more about how to use the ones I have, weeding out those I don't need, organizing the rest
- BOOKS and MAGAZINES--organizing them to be able to find what I'm looking for and actually making projects from the ones I already have
- BORDERS and BINDINGS--learning and applying new techniques (I've already made a scalloped border this year and tried making prairie points)
- PAPER PIECING--doing lots of projects on increasing difficulty levels to improve my skills
- FREE-MOTION-QUILTING--practice, practice, practice on both my sewing machine and longarm machine
- CIRCLES and CURVES--trying different blocks and techniques to be able to make smooth curves
- APPLIQUE--continue working on adding applique to projects and using various methods of attaching applique pieces to a foundation
If you might be interested in following along with some of what I'll be doing, feel free to become a follower and I'll do my best to make your visits to my blog worth your time.
I'm participating in the Beat the Winter Blues Quilters Blog Hop Party and the big attraction of this blog hop are all the giveaways. Be sure to visit their web page over the next 7 days (until March 14th) and go to all the blogs that will be sponsoring giveaways!
For my giveaway, I'll be giving away 4 Fat Quarters in the fabric color and style choice of the winner. I'll be selecting 3 winners and it should be fairly easy for you to enter and have a chance of winning. I'll be keeping the giveaway open until Saturday, March 16th at noon. To enter, you just need to do the following:
Leave a comment (only one), and in your comment I would like you to tell me two things:
1) Of the blogs that you have chosen to follow (not the ones you started following to enter a giveaway), what were your reasons to decide to follow them?
2) How often do you read the blogs that you are following?
That's it! So please give your answers in your comment and I'll be choosing 3 of you to be winners!
Meanwhile, the day is still young, so there's plenty of time for me to Get More Done...Today!
Have a great day and enjoy the Hop!
I am a goal setter also, the blogs I follow must have a common bond to my interests and create inspiration and motivation on a regular basis. I also enjoy humor in a blog post. I read every post that come up on my reader from the blogs I follow. I chose to follow your blog by the title, "I" need to "get more done".
ReplyDeleteI refuse to follow a blog just for a giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteSo.... for the over 200 blogs in my google reader, I follow them because I like their style of quilting and sewing, I find them inspiring.
And... I'm embarrassed to admit it but I check my google reader at least twice a day every day... LOL... and I read most posts, and skim the rest. If I love a quilt or something I will star the post so I can go back to it later.
Lovely room!! I usually choose to follow a blog because the content interests me or I feel like I have some type of connection to the writer of the blog. I view them in google reader more than daily (true confession time) with at least a scan and often a full read of the new post. The exception would be when I'm out of town sometimes I don't get all of the posts read. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI follow a blog that has lots of examples of what they are doing. I live in the North and I get my inspiration from the blogs I read. I try and read every post.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs with lots of pictures of quilts in styles that I like. I also only follow blogs that talk about quilting or related activities 95% of the time. I'm usually pretty up-to-date with reading them, although I must not have had as much spare time this week since there are still some left from Monday.
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs with lots of photos of quilts and stories about them! I check blogs usually at least once a day, sometimes more often if I see new updates appear. Somedays I go offline all together though. A girl has to sew some too!
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that will stretch my quilting - either by teaching something new or just inspiring me to actually make something already :-) I check my reader every day and read the majority of posts in full.
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs that choose the same style or quilting and fabric that I like. I find it a good way to get inspired. I also really like to have tutorials or something educational of value. I'm a beginner so thats not too hard for me to find right now! I then read them every day! I'm also a stay at home mom with the time to read
ReplyDeleteI like easy to read blogs and usually try and read them as much as I can
ReplyDeleteI follow a few blogs but my favrorite is one by a women named Polly! She has four kids and host fabric swaps and somehow seems to find a ton of time to post about quilting and projects she does. I also like the quilters blogs and can peruse through other bogs.
ReplyDeleteI follow a lot of blogs, and every one has a different style and have their own perspective in their quilting - so I quess you could say I like variety. And I read them every day/new posting and really try to comment on each.
ReplyDeleteI follow waaaaay too many blogs but enjoy reading them every day, I am usually drawn to the quilters style and love a sense of humor in the writing. I try to comment as I know how important that is to me on my blog! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs whose style of quilting and sewing I like, which show lots of photos and sometimes give tutorials. Your quilting studio looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs that I find inspiring or that share a common interest. I do not follow blogs just for giveaways because I do read the blogs that I choose to follow. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that interest me. Granted through giveaways you find a lot of blogs, especially when you are new to the blogging world, like I was when I started half a year ago. But I have found a lot of great blogs from really talented people. Some of which I only follow because I love their work, some because they share my interests, such as paper-piecing blogs, which is a new obsession of mine. And I read try to stay up-to-date with them by checking my Google Reader at least once a day, more when I don't have to work, because I have so many blogs to catch up on else :)
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that have information that interests me or I feel some kind of connection to the author. I don't alway read all the blogs I follow, sometimes I just skim through. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteWith sewing blogs I follow those that have great tutorials and tips. The other blogs I follow because I like the writing style of the blogger. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love lots of pictures in a blog so will read a post if a picture has caught my attention. I read the blogs in Blogger so tehy appear as they are posted. Great giveaway!!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely transformation of a room! wish it was mine
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs for inspiration, tutorials and communicating with like minded creative folks. I read/follow daily.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs with lots of inspiration and pictures! I also like to learn a little about the author's country
ReplyDeleteI read my favourite blogs every time they post!
I LOVE your studio...a little jealous too:)
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs with lots of photos that I find inspiring and creative. I read them every day but don't always comment. I never follow blogs that require it for a give away.
I follow about 600 blogs every month for my newsletter. www.notionnanny.com/Newsletter.html. I read about 75 a day, not everyone writes every day (thank goodness). I like the blogs that are positive and happy. They don't even have to be about quilting or have free stuff . I like to hear about the good stuff in people's lives and most often skip the whinny parts.
ReplyDeleteYour studio is fantastic. I follow a blog because we share the same interests....
ReplyDeleteYour studio is beautiful!!! I follow blogs daily... would hate to miss something special! I follow blogs for inspiration, tutorials, and just to see what's new in fabrics, techniques and tools! Thanks for helping to Beat the Winter Blues.
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs that inspire me to stretch myself a little. I read their posts when I receive them by email.
ReplyDeleteI tend to follow blogs with lots of pictures and "how to" posts on techniques and I usually check them several times a week.
ReplyDeleteI follow a blog because the contents are interesting to me, like Quiltville, Echinops and Aster, Oh Fransson, Red Pepper Quilts, In Color Order, etc. They inspire me.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a fabulous studio and it's an awe-inspiring achievement! Congrats on that work!
And thanks for the chance!
I will follow a blog if I've read several posts that showed quilts I admired or had posts that made me chuckle or smile. I regularly check my blogger home page for updates and read or scan many of the new posts. Your sewing studio is fabulous, wish I had one like that!
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that inspires me. I like photos, but not too many. I try to visit the blogs every day!

Great quilt room! I hope you're going to take us on a thorough tour soon. This year I've started writing out my quilting goals, both for the year and for each month. It's definitely helped me to stay on track. As far as following blogs, I've never followed one just to have a chance in a giveaway. I follow blogs that inspire me with the style and colors of their projects, and/or the authors share some of my interests besides quilting, and/or they are entertaining. As far as how often I read the blogs I follow, it totally depends on my week. Sometimes I check every day, other weeks are super busy with my kids' sports and my job and my husband's job and my half-marathon training, so I only check on the weekend (this was one of those busy weeks).
ReplyDeleteWow!!! What a transformation! Love it. One of the blogs I follow that I love is Freemotion by the River. Connie is amazing in what she produces. I follow a lot of blogs, but not everyday. There is so much inspiration out there.
ReplyDeleteWow! What an amazing transformation! I can't wait to read more about it. I have several blogs I follow and read faithfully. One example is Camille Roskelly's Simplify. I was first drawn there because I love the fabrics her and her mom Bonnie create, but then I discovered her home-the way she decorates and other things I love! So I often stop in for inspiration. Other blogs I follow for their tutorials-or because I enjoy the "story line" like here, I am looking forward to future posts about your room!
ReplyDeleteI rarely follow a blog just for a giveaway. The blog also has to be interesting, or if starting out, look like it will turn interesting. Blogs I follow tend to have things I like or need, such as tutorials. I also follow blogs if the person makes interesting projects or has similar tastes.
ReplyDeleteI choose to follow a blog that I like and find interesting. I never follow a blog just for a giveaway, unless I find something special in it for me. Therefore I never ask people to follow me in my giveaways unless they really want to. I read all the blogs I follow.
ReplyDeleteThe ones that "I" choose to follow I read every post. Some I follow because they offer free original patterns, others have the same quilting interest. And then theres the ones that inspire me to think outside the box or get out of my comfort zone. Trendy blogs with trendy patterns really don't interest me.
ReplyDeleteI'm really envious of your quilting studio - right now I'm scattered all over the house. I follow blogs that have lots of pictures of quilts & quilting, some tutorials, and tips and how-tos. I prefer getting posts by email, so I read them everyday when they come through. (I just signed up for your email updates). Thanks for the chance to win (green is my favorite color).
ReplyDeleteI pick blogs that show the trends in quilting, tutoials and tips. I like to watch how some bloggers have become sucessful at designing fabrics and quilts. I also like the ones that you learn as they learn
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that strike my attention with hobbies and abilities that are similar to my own, but maybe have enough difference that I know I can learn something. I like how to's and I enjoy when the person who writes it comes across as someone I would be friends with if we met in person. I try to read up on the blogs every couple of days to stay up to date.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that share challenging tutorials, and blogs that have info on creativity or color choices or an unusual viewpoint on quilting; I follow with GFC, and I read the blog titles in my reader and click on the ones that interest me.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs usually for the tutorials... Love to learn new things... I dedicate about an hour a day to review all updates from the blogs I'm following (otherwise my inbox explose :))
ReplyDeleteHI! HAPPY TO FOLLOW>GFC.
ReplyDeleteI FOLLOW BLOGS THAT ARE OFFERING NEW HINTS,TECHNIQUES+TEACH WITH PHOTOS.
THANKS FOR A NEAT GIVEAWAY!
msstitcher1948@yahoo.com
I follow blog with great tutorials and beautiful photos
ReplyDeletei just love quilting blogs and i try to read them every day. thanks
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I follow have stuff that is interesting to me. They show things that they are working on and have a lot of pictures to show. When I am reading their blog, it is like visiting with a friend. The first thing I do every morning is go to my Blogger dashboard and read all the blogs that have been posted. Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWhat a transformation! Your room is beautiful! I follow many blogs and enjoy the variety of things I read! I try to keep up with all of them but it gets tough to do. Thanks for a wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI tend to follow blogs of people that I somehow connect with and feel that we would be friends in real life..... and I check my blog list daily, and keep pretty much up to date with everyone, even if I don't comment all the time xxx
ReplyDeleteI am following regularly three blogs, one because of the stories and pictures, the two others because of the quilts and ideas.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that are fairly active, and that are interesting to me. I check some daily, some once a week.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower. I actually just started getting interested in a quilting this past summer. I choose to read blogs that show things that they have made, share techniques, and share about products they love. I read blogs almost daily. I try, but I follow several blogs. I started as a paper crafter, and am working on transitioning to fabric. I am really bad at commenting on the blogs I read, since I usually read them in google reader.
ReplyDeleteI follow usually because of the style of quilts the person makes great pics and tutes are a big draw for me also. Love your craft space mine is so sad just a extra room with miss matched furniture and metal shelves, no designe wall or comfy chairs.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites have quilt styles that I like and pictures or they deal with ranch life. I read them several times during the week. Thanks for the giveaway! Nice studio!
ReplyDeleteFirst off... can you come over and help me plan a quilt studio LOL... that is AMAZING!! I tend to follow blogs that have a lot of tutorials, but also a good vibe... I have about 10 that I am committed to following... it is hard to dedicate more time than that, I do read daily
ReplyDeleteI love your studio - I'm fixing up a room in the basement, currently being finished as well. I follow blogs that feature quilts or other crafts that are either a style I find myself using (scrappy) or something that inspires me to try something new. I am trying to work mainly from my own stash, adding just a few new pieces.
ReplyDeleteSusan in PA
susie.galasso@gmail.com
Your studio is amazing! The blogs I enjoy following are usually visually appealing - and the fabrics the crafter uses are usually exactly what I would purchase...as are the quilt patterns. Additionally, there is a lot of I formation on how to do things, thrifty products and wonderful tips.
ReplyDeleteI'm very visual, so how a blog looks is important. Pretty pictures, background, colour and not too many words, I'd rather see than read, although I do follow a couple of Funny wordy people. Mostly quilting blogs. I read almost every day but at least once a week.
ReplyDeleteI read the blogs that I follow daily for inspiration...photos...tutorials...etc
ReplyDeletenhsarab at yahoo dot com
I read all the blogs I follow. I choose them because they always have cool things to make. I do not like blogs that are too personal. I like to see projects not drama.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am deciding if I should follow, I always look for good tutorials. I also follow if the blogger is into the same techniques as I am.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful makeover.
ReplyDeleteI follow 8 blogs daily by email because of the down to earthiness and creativity in sewing and quilting as well as instructions for a newbie like myself
I read quilting blogs for ideas, inspiration and how-to skills. I read them whenever they have a new post. Your sewing room is great, I'm envious. I don't have the space for a room that large. Oh well, I could always move.
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs that have a quilty/family/pet vibe. I enjoy quilt tutorials, lots of photos of quilts, sewing rooms, pets and reading about your family life. I read through GFC so if you post I read it. Some blogs i found through other blogs, some through blog hops. Even though I've never met them, I've laughed and cried with many. I've enjoyed their stories and some triumphs. Thanks so much for the before and after, what a difference it's a dream space. ;-> I'm a new follower. Toni Anne
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that have things in them that are of interest to me. I also enjoy humor, tutorials, photos and of course pet pics. I tend to read the blogs daily.
ReplyDeleteI follow every blog I visit (quilting blogs). I continue following them when they continue to be good quilting blogs. I love seeing quilts and I love being inspired. needless to say my follow list has enough in it that in a week I can get 1000+ posts behind. So I do not read every blog every day. But I do go though at list 100 of them (scanning mostly looking for interesting things) as I am a new quilter I am looking for things that inspire me to make more quilts. If you are fun and lively and you have at least a few pictures of things your working I will love to continue following you.
ReplyDeleteRichard and Tanya Quilts
I kind of judge a book...er blog... by its cover. Usually the layout of a blog (no ads - I hate those) catches my attention, then use of photos and of course it has to be a topic that I have a personal interest in. I was drawn to yours because of your "goals". I have made this my year of quilting goals! I glance at my followed blogs in google reader and link in if I want a closer look or want to leave a comment. There are a few that I seek out everyday.
ReplyDeleteCath @ Bits 'n Bobs
I follow blogs that inspire me, have tutorials and how-to's, great finishes, organizing ideas and sewing rooms layouts. I'm a beginner quilter, so I love anything that helps me out with continuing on with my quilting. I read some of the blogs I follow daily, and other blogs don't post daily, so I read them when they post and other times I'm too busy to read, so I'll catch up reading at a later date. Thanks for a chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteI read the blogs I follow whenever they have a new post! I follow them because I love their quilting projects (they are achievable!), they think similarly to me and are willing to share their tips, tricks and ideas (even the ones that don't work!).
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that are inspirational and include lots of photos, tutorials, etc. I enjoy seeing a person's life as well and reading about their quilty imperfections too. I follow in my Google Reader and I check in just about every day.
ReplyDeleteI don't technically follow any blogs, but I do visit six on a daily basis. I regularly visit these blogs because they have great tutorials with pictures for beginners like me. These blogs also have random give aways which are helpful for gaining all of the supplies that I need. By the way, I love the way your new sewing room looks. We have an unfinished basement and I would love to remodel it. We just need to get the money to do it! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't follow 'officially' as it were, but two blogs I check every day are Thread Head and Quilt Hollow. A friend in the US sent me links to them about 2 years ago and I have looked at them regularly ever since
ReplyDeleteWhy? Because, more often than not, there is something I fond interesting. Or a name in the blogs they follow entices me to read that blog.
I often 'pass'on giveaways that need a commitment to follow as I don't have the time to be a good folllower.
I'm also new in blogland (started also in januari) and I am following about 25 blogs now. I like to follow blogs with interesting stuf about quilting, embroidery and dollshouse crafts. I don't like blogs where are stories like: I waked up, made breakfast and had a headache. Not that I will read when there is realy trouble, but no nonsense.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Joke
I follow blogs because they are fun/funny or because they motivate me in some way. I check the blogs daily. I read most but skim some depending on time constraints.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that a visually interesting to me. Bright colors, bold prints, modern pattern and that offer lots of tutorial and quiltalongs. I like to learn new stuff and be able to see the work in progress. I check my reader every morning before my daughter wakes up while I have a cup of coffee. Then I go thru the rest after she's taking a nap. Thanks for the give away!
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that either have great tutorials (there is so much left to learn) or because the person loves some of the same types of quilts that interest me. Occasionally the main draw to a blog is that the blogger is a gifted humorous writer who also has great quilts! And I love to follow blogs of folks in the state where I currently reside. I use my mid-morning break and lunch times to read blogs, and generally check my reader in the evening as well. Thanks for posting a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs that either
ReplyDelete1. Have helpful tutorials.
2. Have done projects that I find interesting.
I usually check my reader every morning and read up on the blogs at that time.
syvisser@gmail(dot)com
I follow blogs that I feel inspired by. I like tutorials, but they aren't the reason I follow someone. I suppose the blog content has to speak to me. I also like blogs that are easy to read and to make comments. Some people make it hard to make comments with the word verification or moderation. I like when I get a response from the blogger because I know they at least read my comment. I respond to all of the comments on my blog too unless they are a no-reply blogger and then I can't respond back. I also like a blog that the photos are large enough and clear enough to see. Some blogs have blurry photos or are too small to make out what the item is.
ReplyDeleteI don't read every blog I follow every day. I will read if something catches my eye.
blogs are often an inspiration. I love pictures and tutorials. I have just started using a reader so I will follow on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs with tutorials I like, or if the author has similar taste in quilts to me. I check my google reader several times a day when I am nursing my youngest.
ReplyDeleteI follow a lot of blogs. I sign up mostly for email updates or the feed updats. I read every single one of them. I spend the majority of my morning onliine and through out the day I constantly read updates as they come in on my smart phone via the email.I follow all of my blogs for the simple creatvitity and types of quilting that the blog owners do. I also follow fabric shop blogs to see all the new lines as they come out and all the new tools and patterns available as they are introduced. Thank you for the chance to enter your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI usually follow a blog that has good tutorials, interesting content and pretty pictures. I find they give me a lot of inspiration. And I usually their blog posts every time there is a new one. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI usually follow blogs on a whim - I stop by on a blog hop or a referral from another blog and like their writing style, or something they are working on etc. I follow tons of blogs and cannot figure out how to stop following ones that I've outgrown - or perhaps they have outgrown me. Consequently I often get behind on blog reading during the week when I am working. So sometimes I have to hit that "mark all as read" button to save my sanity. But I try to look at every blog post. Thanks for a nice giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI follow LOTS of blogs and blog myself almost everyday. it's SEW inspirational to blog and read other blogs. LOVE your new studio btw!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been blogging much longer than you, but I follow the ones that inspire me with their stories and photos of the things I share in common with them. I have my favorites that I try to find time to read every day! Thanks for sharing the opportunity to enter your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI only follow a few blogs, not all officially. Like to read about what they are up to every day. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs that have personality, stories, photos and tutorials. Reading all of them becomes an addiction at times, but I would feel like I was missing something if I didn't read them. I love your studio! thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI like to follow blogs that have good tutorials on different techniques of quilting. I like lots of pictures and how they are worded, as if they are speaking directly to one individual. I like to read different stories of their life and experiences. I try to read them every day, but sometimes I have problems with my server. I will then read their blogs that they have posted at an earlier time.
ReplyDeleteThe blogs that I follow I try to check every morning. There are blogs that I follow because of quilt-alongs or free quilt patterns going on to entice you to come back to get them all. I enjoy my blogs and it always good to find another new one or two. My 4 fat quarters would be in my choice of red. Thank you for the giveaway and hoping I am a winner.

I choose to follow blogs because of diversity in posting. My list has gotten quite out of control so I have been weeding out quite extensively. Gone are the blogs that just post pictures of quilts day after day. I like a mix of tutorials, tips and personal items. I like to get a sense of the bloggers I read. I have also purged the blogs that I feel are just advertisements for sponsors. I also like bloggers who don't feel the need to post everyday, but only when they truly have something to share. I do try to read the blogs I subscribe to everyday and that is why I am whittling my list down to those I truly enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that have similar tastes to mine. I love to applique and paper piece, and am working on my quilting skills. Those are the criteria that I look for. Thanks sew much for this chance to win your generous giveaway! :-D
ReplyDeleteback2loghome (at) yahoo (dot) com
I chose to follow the blogs I follow because they have things on them that interest me. They show finished or ongoing projects. Some have tutorials, some just pics with the stories:)
ReplyDeleteI mostly try to email subscribe so they hit my inbox whenever they are updated:)
I have one too!
lousquiltncorner.blogspot.com
Thanks!
I follow blogs when they have new patterns or techniques to try. I put them on my Google Reader so I read them every time there is a new post. thanks!
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs to improve my creativity and to support other bloggers in their creativity, to encourage them to share. I try to read them, but often I don't have enough time for me. thank you for this chance. I am new follower from Italy. hugs Alessandra
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs because the content interests me, they have a technique or tutorials which I want to try, they have a great sense of color and style. I read every one of them daily.
ReplyDeleteI follow for contests but the ones I REALLY like I put in a folder on my bookmark Toolbar called DAILY. I also have a folder called WEEKLY. I have a certain time everyday and once a week to look at my favorites. I choose the ones that post a lot of pictures of projects, have tutorials, have witty quirky sense of humor, have fresh, modern ideas, and recently the Civil War reproduction work. I am nothing if not ecclectic in my taste!
ReplyDeleteI started following blogs that used the same colour schemes as me and who were doing interesting things. I first started following mamacjt then found FlossieBlossoms. Since then I have added blogs with more modern quilts. I read mostly on the weekend while sitting and having my coffee.
ReplyDeleteBarb@Witsend
I follow blogs that have tutorials on projects that appeal to me - new blocks, sewing projects that make nice gifts, ways to learn new skills.
ReplyDeleteHope that is helpful!
i have chosen blogs by their content...i am not attracted by tutorials at all...i want to see what people are working on...i read the blog daily for the most part...i love your new studio...so nice to work in there
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower of your blog by email. I usually look for blogs that have a similar style to my own. I tend to look at blogs for inspiration, guidance and friendship. I follow blogs by email and I tend to read posts from those blogs each day.
ReplyDeleteI read Jaybird Quilts everyday and use her list of favorite blogs as a reading guide. I also read Moda Bake Shop daily for the tutorials. Thanks for a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI started following A Quilters Table because she was such an encouragement to me when I started blogging. I check out her blog most days ; )
ReplyDeleteI read blogs that offer tutorials or other inspiration, designers, and friends. I try to read every day. It my news reading time.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs if they are just fun to read. I don't often get to read that many of them, as life gets in the way, but once in a while I sit down and go through my reader and enjoy seeing what everyone is making. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that have lots of tutorials and quilts in styles that I like. I also enjoy blogs in whidh the quilter shares other interests. I read blogs for about three hours on Friday nights. I probably visit a blog about once a month, although I have a couple favorites that I follow via email. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt studio!!!
ReplyDeleteI mostly follow blogs that have tutorials and I usually go read when I get an update.
I follow blogs that create their own items and are soothing to the eyes too!
ReplyDeleteI try to check them daily and mark the really good ones!
DeleteO my how blessed you are to have that space! Mine studio is SO small.
ReplyDeleteI follow some blogs of people with whom I have connected who have common ideas, goals or interests. I check them out a couple of times a week. I don;t follow a long list I don't have time for too many I need to be quilting,LOL.
I have lately been reading daily a few blogs (though have found so many more great ones during the Hop). I read ones that share a similar style with me but are a little (not too much) more advanced than me for inspiration. And they are cheerful and not whiners because I have enough of that in my own house, thank you very much. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs for a number of reasons but mostly i choose the ones that I can relate to- It is hard to keep up with the reading when you have a huge number them which I do, so sometimes it might be awhile between readings. I teach full time and often do not have time to read regularly.
ReplyDeleteI read ones that grab my attention by their projects, their use of photos and the way the pieces are written. I am not sure how helpful that is.
Thanks for participating in the blog hop - Your studio is amazing- you have created a wonderful place to create.
Regards from Alberta,
Anna
I follow blogs that show interesting projects and fabrics. I love blogs that are crafty and that I can read easily.
ReplyDeleteI use google reader to follow my blogs and I read this every day or so and if I see something interesting I click through to read more.
Wow! You really made an amazing transformation to the workshop. It is just beautiful now. Beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteIn following a blog, I have many reasons; some I follow because of their sense of humor, some because they have really well written tutorials and in learning as much as I could online about quilting in the past 2+ yrs since I started, well written information has been extremely helpful, some are because they have great tips about the tools needed in quilting, and others because they have other things such as real yummy recipes utilizing the crockpot or other recipes.
As far as reading those blogs I do follow, those that have the capability of following via email notification are read as often as they create a new blog post. It's much easier for me to follow via email so those who offer this option are always read. The blogs that only offer an RSS feed aren't read quite as often because I rarely open my reader although I really don't have a reason for not opening the reader; I just don't.
I like to follow blogs that show how to do things. Kind of like tutorials. I read some blogs each day. I limit my computer time to about an hour a day.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I never ever start following a blog because of a giveaway, I only follow blogs because I enjoy reading them. I'm not sure what I look for, a mixture of styles and projects and a blogger who seems friendly and approachable. Turn offs are bad spelling and grammar (I don't mean the occasional mangled sentence or typo, I mean ALL the time), bloggers who only promote their shops, blogs where they basically say "this is what I made" and that's the end of it! As for the blogs I read, I read every post. I use Google Reader so I may not get a chance to catch up on blogs for several days, but I read them eventually.
ReplyDeleteYour studio is awesome. Love the before and after picture.
ReplyDeleteI follow certain blogs because the inspire, are creative, and the photos are clear. I use google reader so I read some every day.
thanks for the giveaway.
I am usually drawn into a blog initially by beautiful photos and a clean, uncluttered style. What keeps me is the content, the tone of the writing, inspiring tutorials, recipes or project ideas, and an upbeat attitude overall. I prefer to follow a blog by email, which guarantees I'll read each post that I'm sent since I check email most often. Beautiful job on your studio. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi and thank you for a great give away! I follow blogs that has 'my style' of sewing and quilting. I like to find inspiration, get new ideas and to learn something. Also I like to get contact (as much as possible) with the bloggers I follow. I read most of their posts (and spend too much time on the computer).
ReplyDeleteSunny wishes from Greece!
nerospost(at)gmail(dot)com
I decide to follow blogs because the people make me laugh with their *blogging attitude* good piccies and a bit of homelife thrown in and I read most of the posts, quite alot of the time not when there is a blog hop because GFC just gets silly
ReplyDeleteFantastic quilting studio. So much room to move around in! I try to daily see what is going on with all the bloggers that I follow! I use the reading pane behind the blogger. It shows a picture and a couple of sentences-more than the Google Reader. If I am drawn in then I will open up their blog and read. I love learning from others. If I feel that the blogger has something different or new I will choose to follow them. Basically I am a traditionalist but have found the modern quilt movement really fun. I love seeing young women getting involved in quilting/sewing! I do like an organized and easy to get around site. Overall I too want to connect with other quilters. When I returned to quilting I was inspired and motivated by a group online! It was about making friends and sharing beyond quilting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful studio! I choose to follow blogs that are not only my quilting taste but also some that are outside my comfort range so I can learn something new. I love the blogs that have great tutorials, include a little of their lives and have a sense of humor. I read all the posts as I begin my morning with a cup of coffee and the blogs.
ReplyDeleteI check the blogs I follow on a daily basis - - I am especially drawn to the ones that host activities I can join in on, have lots of photos, and work on projects that I would like to make too! Nice studio - I'm totally jealous! Thank you for the opportunity to enter the drawing!
ReplyDeleteI follow many many blogs. I check each update I receive daily. I always find something someone has done that either teaches me something or amazes me.
ReplyDeleteI follow many quilting blogs to get ideas, tips, and tutorials.. SewCalGal is one of my favorites as is Sewmamsew.. she has lots of tutorials. There are some who show what they make and add a dash of their homelife which is interesting... OH my you are such a lucky lady to have a great sewing room..
ReplyDeleteI only follow 6 blogs but check maybe 10 -12/ I follow those blogs because they are a lot like me, in design and ways of doing things OR they are way above me in talent and inspire me. I like when people post around once a week since I don't have a lot of computer time.
ReplyDeleteI follow a lot of blogs and read them daily unless I'm away from home. Then I fret what I might miss! I like a chatty blog, written with a bit of humour. Tutorials are good, I've got lots to learn. I like lots of pictures of quilts in their stages of done-ness (what an awful word!)
ReplyDeleteI started following blogs when I really got interested in Modern Quilting and blogs are where I could learn more about it. I also have some thrown in there that I have a connection to in some way. I follow between 100-125 and read them daily- mostly later at night. Thanks for participating in the Quilters' Blog Hop Party.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs because I like the tutorials and ideas that are presented. I like to challenge my skills & learn new techniques. I read my e-mails & blog updates daily. Congrats on starting
ReplyDeleteyour blog. Thanks for the chance to win!
wigglypup2(at)yahoo(dot)com
I like to follow blogs that show lots of pictures and have projects that inspire me. I try to read them as often as I can. Thanks for a great giveaway! Have a Happy Day! :)
ReplyDeleteI follow quilting blogs either because the quilts the bloggers are making are appealing to me (colors, styles, particular quilts, etc.) or because the blogger shares interesting, helpful information. Occasionally, I follow quilting blogs simply because I like the writing style of the blogger. I admit that I don't read every post of every blogger I follow. If I did I would not get any quilting done. I have two blog rolls in the sidebar of my blog and I click through to any of them when a post that looks interesting appears. I also use google reader to read blog posts. If the blogger gives the option for full feed, I can read the whole post and see the photos. If I want to leave a comment I can click through to the blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the blog hop and giveaway.
P.S. I forgot to tell you how amazing your studio looks compared to the before picture. You did a fabulous job of recreating the space!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome room!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I choose to follow have two things - finished projects in color schemes that are pleasing to my eye, and blogs posts with tutorials or links to tutorials/helpful suggestions. And I try to read them everyday, I open every single post on my RSS feeder, but during busy times I will just scan them for pictures that catch my eye instead of reading the entire thing
Ein super Studio ! Ich folge vielen Blogs um immer mehr Inspiration zu bekommen
ReplyDeleteGrüße aus Deutschland und danke für die Verlosung

Of the blogs I follow (meaning actually read regularly) I like them because they are original. I get very bored when all the crafty blogs look like a page from a Martha Stewart magazine. I appreciate nice photos but they don't have to be hyper staged and perfect. When they get too "pinterest perfect" they just blend in with all the others.
ReplyDeleteI like to get to know the blog author and the super slickly produced blogs strip that personal touch.
I picked the blog by the projects and the writing. If the writing is bad, then I get bored. The photos must appeal to me first. Then I read at least once a week.
ReplyDeleteI want to follow blogs that have tutorials. Tutorials that you can download and keep are a bonus we don't usually remember where we saw that tutorial when we follow a LOT of blogs. Pictures that are clear are wonderful. Remember that not every follower is a skilled quilter. Many of us are newer quilters and want to learn those things that you already do each time you sit down to the machine. Giveaways are great!
ReplyDeleteI pick a blog that sounds real. Real people write about the good the bad and in between. I like photos that are bright and clear and are helpful. I read them at least once a week more if I have time. Thanks for being part of the Hop.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that have tutorials that I find helpful. I also like blogs with quilt pictures and techniques.
ReplyDeleteI followed only four or five blogs before this blog hop. I will be honest, I only read them maybe once a month. I don't sit down to just read very often, but I take my e-book with me to appointments and try to catch up.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs a lot of time based on the pictures and I love the one of your quilting studio, so I am you newest follower. I am new to quilting so I love learning any trick or method that some one shares. I try to read my GFC daily but sometimes miss a day or 2, I don't always comment but I do read. I pin a lot of tutorials or pretty looking projects for future reference and just wish I had more time (2 kids) and a better sewing room (mine is the kitchen table). Oh yes and if you want to give away some of the rulers that you are weeding out, I might be able to make some room, lol. Good luck with your new blog, your starting out great.
ReplyDeleteI Love your Sewing Room! I Love to follow blogs for their inspiration. I like to see what they are working on. And learn something from their tutorials and choice of fabrics! Thanks for this great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHMOLY, can you please come and re-design my basement into a super-fantabulous sewing area?! PLEASE??? lol! I am so jealous! (as a matter of fact, I just showed your pics to my hubs with a wink and a nod, and he only grunted in return...hmm...maybe for Mother's day? hahaha)
ReplyDeleteOf the blogs I read, I follow for the following reasons:
- their blogs are beautiful - easy to read, easy on the eyes, easy to navigate. Simple and beautiful.
- their content is something I'm interested in - motherhood, modern quilting, machine maintenance, vintage machines, fabric (e.g. FQS Blog, Hawthorne Thread's blog, etc.)
- they post frequently and about interesting things.
I hope this makes sense!
I follow bloggers whose quilt styles and fabrics match my own tastes. I enjoy progress and technique photos, good tutorials, helpful hints, favorite tools and notions. I usually check my email daily for new posts. For those who don't offer email updates, I try to check weekly. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGreat studio. I follow blogs that share the joy of quilting and bits and pieces of their lives.
ReplyDeleteLove your studio make! I follow blogs that "speak" to me- some are kind of philosophical, some are inspirational. I respond and return often to blogs that have a mixed entry-- usually something about transformation, creative process, daily life, and sewing and tutorials mixed in. And I am very conscious and picky about the photos and the layout of the blog. I click on them form my blogger dashboard, and I follow some of them by email to be sure to get each entry. My absolute favorites, I seek out 2 or 3 times a week! They have become favorites even from the replies to my comments. And because you asked about this stuff, I am now following you, to see what else you have to say. Plus, I am inspired by your studio!
ReplyDeleteLove the studio. I follow blogs that touch my heart - the bloggers "think" like me and are creative. I follow my favourites by email so that I don't miss and posts. Thanks for sharing and for the opportunity on a great draw.
ReplyDeletebonnielarson58@gmail.com
Your studio is gorgeous! Love the space.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that I find not only a common interest, but a connection with. Humour, some stories of everyday life. The good, the bad...and even the ugly!
Many blogs I read daily, some weekly, depending on how much time I have. But I never feel like I've "wasted" time, or not been productive, you know? Each blog I read inspires me, moves me, teaches me something.
:o)
pippirose59 at gmail dot com
The blogs in my google reader were chosen because they had projects that inspired me or a "voice" I found entertaining. I flip through my google reader most every day while feeding the baby.
ReplyDeleteI pretty much add all the quilt blogs I come into contact with (that's why I love the Quilting Gallery Blog Hops). I read all my blogs a few times a week. Thanks for the chance to win ;)
ReplyDeleteMost of the Blogs I follow I found through give aways or guest Blogs on Blogs I already follow but I don't just join a blog to enter a give away. It has to have an asthetic and style I like. It has to make me feel inspired but at the same time not be so far out of reach that I can't imagine doing what they do. It is hard to explain.
ReplyDeleteA few of the Blogs I follow have regular features I am interested in like tutorial projects or stitchery of the week/month free designs.
I haven't read a whole lot of the blogs I follow lately, I just catch a couple who I get updates from on facebook. With a toddler who is refusing day sleeps I don't get a whole lot of quite me time at the moment to just read all my blogs.
The blogs I follow focus on quiltng, sharing photos of progress, what they did or didn't like and eventually the finished quilt. Some family/life is fine if the writing style is enjoyable. I check my feed reader for new posts once a day.
ReplyDeleteI check the blogs that I follow on gfc on a rondom basis, sometimes a lot, sometimes only about once a week. If a blog is really high on my list, I also follow by email.
ReplyDeleteI am looking for posts that show something new, a tutorial, or even just a work in progress.
I followed the blogs because they had fun things made or cool tutorials. and I read them when they get new posts up.
ReplyDeleteI choose to follow my favorite blogs by email... and read them each time they make a new post. I like blogs that inspire, teach and make a variety of projects.

The blogs I follow have a good mix with lots of quilts and also snippets from the everyday life of a quilter. I try to read blogs daily.
ReplyDeleteAlthough i follow many sites that I will re-visit, the ones I mainly click open are followed by email. Those have lots of new quilt photos coming through and new info , upcoming events etc. Love that studio!
ReplyDeleteI started following most of the blogs because of the inspiration they provided in my quilting journey. Lots of beautiful blocks, tutorials, quilt-alongs....I like them all. And I read them all daily (sometimes I get behind but eventually catch up - never could I mark them "all read.")
ReplyDeleteI sign up for blogs that are funny, inspiring and gorgeous to look at. I love to engage with the blogger by commenting and I read every post because I usually sign up by RRS feed so I get them in my inbox. Happy blogging!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to check out my blog hop giveaway too at www.brandylynndesigns.blogspot.com
Email:info@explorefibre.com
I follow blogs mainly because they make projects that are my style. I've also been following people part of the #ALYoF Which is huge!
ReplyDeleteI usually glance at most of the posts in a reader but I go and really read in depth if again it's a project that totally is awesome. Like your room transformation!
Could you tell me about your cutting table! I'm desperate to find one.
I enjoy reading blogs for inspiration...especially the blogs of working women with children. I have learnt so much about a myriad of crafts through the blogs...some of which I read almost at least once a week. Its lovely to be able to connect with other crafters from all over the world through their blogs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the gorgeous giveaway...wishing you a great day.

I follow because I find them inspiring or love photos or great tutorials. I try to read all of them but not every time have possibility to comment) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThe blogs that I put in my favorites usually have a post at least once a week, they have tutorials every once in a while that i am interested in. They also have lots of pictures, their pets, their travels, their projects, either in progress or finished. They are all very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI read some blogs every day but since I have at least 75 that are my favorites, I probably read each of them twice a week.
i choose blogs to follow if the content is something that interests me. i am all about quilting and fabric so there is lots to choose from
ReplyDeleteI choose blogs that inspire me, they normally have quilt styles that I love or want to learn. If they do tutorials, then it is even better. I normally read them daily or every other day. I tend to read on my ipad at night, so instead of a book before bed, I review my blog list.
ReplyDeleteI choose to follow blogs based on being about my interests and that I find interesting, fun, and helpful.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit that I don't check into my reader as much as I'd like to, but I try to read the ones that I'm an email subscriber to as much as possible. Some days, I just have to skip them just to get things done!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I can so appreciate all the work you have done to your sewing space! That is a tremendous amount of work!! The blogs I follow show works in progress, tutorials, and family fun. As far as how often I read the blogs....I follow most through google reader so that I follow new posts on my smart phone and read them in the dr office, waiting in line, basically squeezing in moments of time in little snippets.
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I most want to follow go into my email in box. They are usually people who have struck me as someone I would like to ave a cup of tea with...kindred spirits, people I could see myself being friends with if we were neighbours.
ReplyDeleteFirst things first. I only read as far as rulers before I bookmarked your blog. Then I added follow. I believe you are my husbands answer to my "problem" Which I have to say I believe it is my problem, I just am not organized so I put things off and off and off. My regular blogs have a file space in my email program that I send then to and 2 or 3 times a week I go in and read them. I'm looking forward to cleaning up my space.
ReplyDeleteBlogs that I choose to follow usually have content related to quilting, but also talk about family life and the experiences of the writers in their lives. Then they seem almost like friends even though I don't know them personally. I generally read the blogs I follow every day or two or however often they are posted. In general I think that posting more than once a day is overkill, but actually my favorite blog often has two or three entries in a day.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that give me inspiration. I read these everyday. Lovely giveaway. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI stared reading blogs about four months ago. There were a few that I liked so much that I read there blog from beginning to end and then decided to follow them. I have a separate email address for my quilt blogs and love to come home from work and read them. 3bakergirlsgo@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a wonderful giveaway gift. Thanks for being in the blog hop and for the fun. Some of the blogs I've followed I picked because of the humor, pictures, quilt along, as well as giveaways. A couple I even follow because of the state they live in. I try to read several a day. No set number of blogs that I read, just depends on how much time I have at the computer.
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I choose to follow are those quilters that I have come across who enjoy doing free motion quilting and who blog about their leaning experiences and their achievements. I like blogs with humor and those that I feel comfortable with to be able to share experiences and know-how. Wow, I do love your sewing studio what a lucky girl! Thank you for the chance to be a winner of fat quarters.
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I follow are generally those that have lots of pictures, maybe some tutorials and how-to's, perhaps some recommendations about products or books, maybe a recounting of the process gone through to make a particular quilt. I don't have as much time as I'd like to read blogs, so when I do, I want to get right to the quilting information. I'm not so interested in the chatty, personal, what's going on in my life type posts....nothing wrong with them, I just don't have the time for them. I do try to check up on the blogs I follow at least a couple times a week. Hope to do more after I retire.
ReplyDeleteI don't formally follow any blogs - I don't want that many e-mails! I keep them in my favorites, and once I get to know how often the blogger posts I periodically check in. There are some I look at every day and some I just check once a week. The blogs I "follow" I do so because I find their quilts or message inspirational. Sometimes they offer tips or tutorials, but mostly they are motivational for me. Thank you for the chance to win!

I love blogs with lots of photos for quilting inspiration and I read them as often as they are updated. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI like to read blogs that share similar interests with me, and show something about author's personality as well. Occasionally it is nice to get to know the bits and pieces about the blogger too.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs through RSS feed, so I glance them through every few days.
I follow blogs where the writer explains techniques I am not familiar with, or patterns that I do not know. I like to learn new things and grow my skills. I read blogs irregularly, as my schedule doesn't always let me sit down and spend all day on the internet.
ReplyDeleteThe blogs I follow on a regular basis to get inspiration and education. The reason I like certain blogs is the quality of their tutorials and pictures. I check them about every 2 weeks or more.
ReplyDeletenicolesender(at)yahoo(dot)com
I usually pick blogs that offer tips, tutorials or that are particularly inspirational. I read the blogs I follow through a feed reader. I may not get to every one of them every day, but I try and keep up.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs that have lots of art work / photos for inspiration. I also like to read tutorials. I usually try to visit most of the blogs in my list.
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs with craft projects and tips
ReplyDeleteABreading4fun [at] gmail [dot] com
I follow blogs that have lots of pictures of quilts and tutorials. Love the tutorials so I can have inspiration. I only regularly follow blogs that give me updates through email.
ReplyDeleteGenerally, I like the stories and the projects in the blogs. Some I check almost daily, most weekly. I scan but there are some that I feel always have something interesting and I stop and read. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI like blogs that post fairly regularly, and that show the projects in various stages, sometimes tutorials, or sometimes just photos from what is going on in their lives (that's interesting!). Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI follow bloggers who show tutorials on their quilts. I read most of the my current blogs at least every other day. Sometimes bloggers over do it. They post something daily even if it is only what they had for breakfast...too much info. I really have a small amount of time so I want to learn how to do things.
ReplyDelete
